When planning a bathroom remodel in the Tampa Bay area, it is easy to get caught up in picking out the perfect tile, fixtures, and vanity. But the most important part of your new bathroom is something you will never actually see once the project is finished: the waterproofing.
At Level Up Remodeling, we believe a beautiful shower is worthless if it leaks. Water damage can rot your framing, cause dangerous mold growth, and cost thousands of dollars to repair. That is why we adhere to a strict, multi-step waterproofing process on every single custom shower we build.
Here is a behind-the-scenes look at how we protect your home:

The foundation of any custom walk-in shower is the shower pan. We install a thick, highly durable 40-mil PVC shower liner inside the framing. But we don't just install it and hope for the best. We plug the drain, fill the entire pan with water, and let it sit. This mandatory "leak test" ensures the liner and drain connection are 100% watertight before we ever cover it up.

Standard drywall or cheap backer boards have no place in a luxury shower. We install premium, 100% waterproof backer board directly to the studs. Then, we take it a step further by treating every single seam, joint, corner, and fastener with a specialized liquid waterproofing sealant. This creates a continuous, impenetrable barrier against moisture.

Only after the shower has passed our leak test and the waterproofing has cured do we begin the aesthetic work. Because we laid a flawless foundation, we can confidently install heavy luxury materials—like massive large-format quartz tiles, custom recessed shower niches, and heavy-duty built-in shower benches—knowing they will remain structurally sound and beautiful for decades.
Do It Right The First Time A lower quote from a budget contractor often means they are skipping these invisible, time-consuming steps. At Level Up Remodeling, we refuse to compromise on the structural integrity of your home.
